A scientific study from the Journal of Physiological Anthropological Applied Human Science found that soaking in a tub of warm water for an hour or so before bedtime led people to fall asleep more quickly and stay asleep longer. Participants also moved less during their slumber and were able to enter deeper states of REM sleep. By taking a few minutes to yourself at the end of the day, you’ll gear your body up for a full night of rejuvenating sleep that will leave you feeling refreshed and energized the next morning. 

 

One study from New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center found that a human’s body temperature naturally dips two hours before their natural bedtime. If your typical bedtime is later than you’d like or your entire schedule is out of whack, a great way to regulate your sleep patterns is by taking a toasty soak two hours before you’d like to call it a night. The study found that by soaking in hot water for around 20 minutes, this will raise your temperature by a few degrees and then once you get out, it will drop rapidly. This quick body temperature change will relax you and enable you to fall asleep more quickly and easily.
