Get in Shape While Staying Cozy

With the warmer months on the horizon, many people are looking for ways to get the perfect bathing suit body. Did you know that your personal spa is the ideal workout area? In addition to the multitude of benefits, such as pain relief and improved circulation, your hot tub provides the perfect conditions for a calorie-burning workout with minimal impact on your joints. Here are a couple of workouts to try out the next time you’re taking a cozy soak.

Hot Tub Crunches

In addition to maintaining a healthy, well balanced diet and drinking plenty of water, a great way to combat stubborn belly fat is to do a few sets of hot tub crunches every day. All you need to do is find a seated position and anchor yourself by gripping the sides of your hot tub. Next, alternate bringing both of your knees inwards toward your chest and then extending them out in front of you. While you’re extending them forward, make sure to squeeze your knees and calves together, and resist the urge to use your back or shoulders to complete the movements. This will intensify the amount of work your abs are doing. We recommend doing this move for a few sets of 20 repetitions per day.

Heel Lifts

Have you always dreamt of having sculpted calves? Try doing a few sets of heel lifts every day! Simply stand in the very center of your spa, and depending on your balance, hold onto either side of your hot tub or try balancing without the use of your hands. Once you’ve found a steady position, start slowly raising and lowering your heels, while focusing on compressing your calf muscles. Try doing a few sets of 10 repetitions, or until your calf muscles start to burn. That satisfying burn means your calves are getting stronger! If you feel yourself starting to lose your footing, go ahead and steady yourself using the walls of your hot tub or take a short break. As you do this exercise over the course of the next few days, your balance will improve, which is an added perk.

Leg Kicks

If you’re looking for an exercise that you can do while sitting down, kicking your feet is the best option! It helps to tone your leg muscles, loosen up your hip flexors, and improve your cardiovascular health. All you need to do is find a comfortable seated position, extend your legs straight toward the center of your spa, grab the sides of your hot tub for balance, and start kicking up and down like you’re swimming. In the beginning, you’ll want to start doing shallow kicks and focusing on getting your legs as straight as possible. Once you build up your leg muscles, you can kick up and down higher to burn more calories. Start out by doing a few sets of 15 to 30 repetitions and as your ability improves, you can increase the number of sets you do on a daily basis.
